Islam Run Amuck In Iran. Basiji Enforce Shop Mannequin Fatwa: "Off With Their Breasts!"

From Fausta's Blog:

Continuing on the police action in Iran trying to force all women into submission
, The women continue to be relentlessly harassed. And now comes the really misogynistic and truly bizarre part,
One shopkeeper selling evening dresses told us the moral police had ordered him to saw off the breasts of his mannequins because they were too revealing.

He said he wasn't the only shop to receive this strange instruction.

The shopkeeper "sawed off the breasts of the mannequins on his window display and covered them with sticky tape", at the insistence of the police.

Phelps & WBC Mob Backs Down from Picketing Virginia Tech Funerals

As sane people everywhere stand together in massive protest against the Westboro Baptist Church's threats to picket the tragic funerals of the victims of the Virginia Tech shootings, some hope arrives. The item was removed from the WBC website. Phelps decided to reverse plans in lieu of radio time on The Mike Gallagher Show.
The host goes on to say:
You may recall that when they were planning to protest outside the funerals of the slain Amish children in Pennsylvania, I offered an hour of airtime on my radio show to Westboro Baptist Church in exchange for their written promise to stay out of Pennsylvania and leave those grieving families alone. They accepted my offer and were guests on my show for an hour. When I found out that they were planning to hold protests outside the Virginia Tech victims funerals, I've made the decision to offer them more airtime. On Tuesday, April 24, Shirley Phelps-Roper and other members of Westboro Baptist Church will be my in-studio guests for the entire program. They have formally announced that they are cancelling all of their scheduled protests for the Virginia Tech shooting victims funerals as a result of receiving this invitation to be on my show.

Okay, so they booked time on the radio-- I suppose anything is better than allowing them to disrupt the funerals. Besides, no one is going to listen to them anyway. We've heard it all before.

National Christian Leader Denounces Phelps' Appearance at Virginia Tech
WASHINGTON, April 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- The Reverend Rob Schenck (pronounced SHANK), an Evangelical minister and president of the interdenominational National Clergy Council in Washington, DC, released this statement today in response to the planned appearance of Pastor Fred Phelps of Topeka's Westboro Baptist Church at the campus of Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia:
"Pastor Fred Phelps and his unbiblical, non-Christian venomous message are not only supremely offensive to the survivors and families of those lost in the Virginia Tech massacre, but to those of us who have prayed and wept with them.

"Mr. Phelps routinely violates the New Testament mandate of Christ in Matthew, Chapter 5, to love others, even those he perceives to be his enemies, and St. Paul's admonition that if we 'have not love,' we are as meaningless as 'a tinkling cymbal.'

"Mr. Phelps does not speak for or represent the sentiments of the majority of Bible-believing Christians or ministers in this country. He speaks only for himself and not for historic Christianity. His rants deserve to be utterly rejected and ignored by anyone of serious Christian faith."

You don't have to be a Christian to agree with those sentiments.

My heart goes out to all the victims and their families during this trying and heartwrending time.

Virginia Tech Funerals to be Target of Westboro Baptist Picket -- *Update 4/20 & 4/23!

--*UPDATE 4/23! Due to massive outrage and protest by the sane and good people in this world, Phelps has called off his vultures. There will be no WBC pickets for the Virginia Tech funerals, thank God. Please go to my main page for the latest update. Thank you.

--*UPDATE 4/20! (From Barking Moonbat: The Phelps hyenas are actually headed for Ryan Clark's funeral in Georgia. I have a feeling that they won't be well received there.)

4/17 - From Towerload:
Never missing the opportunity to take advantage of a tragedy, Fred Phelps and his gang of haters at Westboro Baptist Church plan to picket
the funerals of those killed in the Virginia Tech shootings, according to a message on their website (which I haven't linked on purpose):
"WBC will preach at the funerals of the Virginia Tech students killed on campus during a shooting rampage April 16, 2007. You describe this as monumental horror, but you know nothing of horror -- yet. Your bloody tyrant Bush says he is 'horrified' by it all. You know nothing of horror -- yet. Your true horror is coming. 'They shall also gird themselves with sackloth, and horror shall cover them; and shame shall be upon all faces, and baldness upon all their heads' (Eze. 7:18).

Why did this happen, you ask? It's simple. Your military chose to shoot at the servants of God today, and all they got for their effort was terror. Then, the LORD your God sent a crazed madman to shoot at your children. Was God asleep while this took place? Was He on vacation? Of course not. He willed this to happen to punish you for assailing His servants."

No doubt they'll blame the shootings on the gays as well. But as many people have noted, the more these nuts trot themselves out, the more a symbol of the need for tolerance they become.

'Rev.' Phelps. Satan's Delivery Boy.

Absolutely disgusting! We need the Patriot Guard Riders! The victims of this madness do not deserve to have their living memories stained by the presence of Phelps and his mob.

Here is a small tribute to some of the beautiful people who lost their lives.
