Cindy Sheehan Union Square Park

Cindy Sheehan is in New York City this weekend and kicked off the nationwide launch of 'Orange Fridays' in Union Square Park this evening. According to the flyer, "The urgent color of orange -- the color that has been assigned to those detained and tortured with no due process -- must become the color of a gathering sentiment to end the Bush regime and reverse it's program." The first speaker suggested that not only should everyone wear orange on Fridays, but to wear it every single day. After a few songs, speeches and poetry I left, but not before taking a few pictures. <--- click for slide show!

Somebody wants to have a Million Slacker March. I kid you not. I didn't ask when this would take place. Would it have even mattered? He said that the 'slacker movement' would help stop the war because 'slackers don't become soldiers and go to war.'

Is Cindy running for Congress on the Troofer ticket?
They were out in force today.

I think they might have found the perfect spokesman.

Rally to Free the Kidnapped Israeli Soldiers at the United Nations

I went to Dag Hammarskjold Plaza today at the United Nations for the rally to free the kidnapped Israeli soldiers Gilad Shalit, Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser. It was the fastest photo shoot I had ever done unfortunately since it was my lunch break I had to get back to work. It was completely packed and I could barely reach halfway to the stage where the speakers were. Here are my photos.

Much, much more over at Atlas. Videos and photos.

* Update 7/17: Here are six short video clips shot by Pamela Hall. Thanks, Pamela! One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six.

'Troops Out Now' Moonbat Demonstration Times Square

There was another anti-war protest in Times Square this evening. It was a rainbow mix of Moonbats, Commies, Socialists, Truthers [of course!], and a Mumia fan or two. Fortunately a hearty band from The Gathering of Eagles showed up to show support for our soldiers. Photos here.

Anne Frank in a Keffiyah?

I found this yesterday stuck to a free newspaper box on Third Avenue and 51st Street in Manhattan. I couldn't believe my eyes, so I had to take a photo. Upon closer inspection I noticed the website for this travesty.

UPDATE 7/09: A Dutch blogger also found one of these stickers in Amsterdam.

UPDATE 7/13: The clueless person who made this awful thing has updated their website and is apparently quite amazed that it is being defaced and erased all over Amsterdam. Shocka! You can view the pics by clicking 'next' under the photo on the home page.

UPDATE January 24, 2008: I notice I am getting a lot of traffic from The Netherlands and Europe. Welcome and thanks for coming by. I'd like to remind the viewers of how the Nazis and the Holocaust affected the Dutch. At that site, I recommend you please take a moment and look at Segregating The Jews.

Stand by the UK Demonstration

A small group gathered today in Manhattan on the second anniversary of the 7/7 London bombings to show support for the UK in light of the recent failed terror attempts in London and Scotland.

Beginning at Rockefeller Center and up Fifth Avenue they marched with flags to the British Consulate on Third Avenue. It was a peaceful march on a beautiful and somewhat quiet day in the city. There were no counter demonstrators. Here is my slide show.

* UPDATE! 7/10: After we wrapped up at the British Consulate, my compatriots were walking through Times Square and just happened upon a group of British Officers. They were very happy to see that Americans were demonstrating in support of the UK! Pamela's wonderful photograph below. Look at all those smiling faces!

Happy Birthday, America!

Yesterday I went out into my neighborhood in Brooklyn to take pictures of American flags. Being the day before our nation's birthday, I thought there would be a show of patriotism. I was disappointed but not surprised that I walked for many blocks and could only find a handful including my own two. I even went back out with my dogs for a second trip to find more flags.

What I discovered was that the American flags that I did find looked like they had been up for a long time. Seemed to be only the old timers in the area, God Bless them. None of the new residents had any flags, nor did any of the 'luxury loft' condos have any either. You'd think that living under the shadow of the World Trade Center would have some kind of lasting effect.
